ATP Looks Ahead to More Virtual Events in the Fall of 2021 -

Security Summit '21 &

Virtual E-ATP Conference: Assessment: Navigating New Expectations

Despite the challenge of a second year impacted by COVID, ATP's 2021 Virtual Innovations Conference, which carried the theme: Assessment for a Better World, attracted as many attendees as its 2019 in-person conference held in Orlando, Florida. A total of 1,253 assessment industry professionals attended the conference, representing 23 countries.  [All recordings are now available on the ATPHub.]
Working off of its success, ATP will kick off the 2021 fall season with two virtual events: A virtual Security Summit planned for 21-22, September, and the virtual Europe-ATP Conference scheduled for  27-29, September.

"As we gradually emerge from COVID-induced lockdowns, educators, learners, and employers across Europe are evaluating how best to embrace and navigate new dynamics around assessment. COVID-19 shone a spotlight on the divides in society and created new expectations for technology’s role across all aspects of our lives. As creators and providers of assessments, we have a responsibility to deliver products that provide equitable access to the fairest testing experience," remarked E-ATP's 2021 Chair Paul Muir of the British Council in explaining how the E-ATP Steering Committee arrived at this year's conference theme: Assessment: Navigating New Expectation.

Content sessions will include topics such as Digitising Assessment,  Understanding Your Candidate,  Innovation in Assessment, Learning and Assessment, Assessment Standards and Benchmarks, and The Business of Certifications, Qualifications, and Accreditation.

Muir encouraged "any organisation that uses assessments or considers using assessments to measure achievement, competency, or performance to consider attending this conference.

"The assessment industry has expanded and continues to grow beyond the typical testing professions of the past." he noted.

Don't miss out on ATP’s second virtual Security Summit

Also in September, and as a prelude to the E-ATP Conference, ATP will host its second Virtual Security Summit on the 21st and 22nd of September, 2021: Assessment Excellence & Transparency with AI.

"The focus of this year's Summit will be on Artificial Intelligence, and it will be an opportunity for organizations and industry professionals to learn how to responsibly use AI in assessment. Presentations have been invited from industry leaders specializing in test creation, security, technology, and privacy," remarked ATP's 2021 Security Committee Chair Allison Mulford of Prometric.  She noted that ATP's International Privacy Subcommittee has recently released a White Paper on AI which is recommended as a pre-read for those attending the Summit.

"There is an increased use and discussion of Artificial intelligence (AI) and what it means in the assessment industry. At the same time, scrutiny on AI has tended to blur the distinction between true AI and forms of automated decision-making," Mulford remarked.

Building upon the wave of information about AI that has been made available over the past year, this two-day summit will:

  • Engage in discussions on test security, privacy, compliance challenges, and opportunities at play when building and administering tests using AI and automated decision-making; and
  • Provide actionable steps testing programs, test publishers, and industry service providers can take to address them.

The Security Summit will be free for all ATP members. Non-members who would like to attend both the E-ATP Conference and the Security Summit, can obtain a special discounted rate of €70 for the Security Summit. Nonmembers can email [email protected] for information about the discounted rate and how to register.
