ATP Launches New Award For 2023

Rising Leader Award to be Offered for Young Professionals

Nominations now open for all awards until December 31, 2022

Board member and 2023 ATP Award Chair Amy Riker of Curriculum Associates announced the launching of a new ATP award focusing on young professionals. "The ATP Rising Leader award will recognize and honor a young professional who has made a significant impact in advancing the assessment industry within an organization or institution, advancing the knowledge and understanding of tests and/or services related to clinical, occupational, certification, licensure, educational or other similar uses; and has demonstrated a high level of professionalism and business ethics consistent with ATP's mission to promote and preserve the general value of testing and its value to society, in all its forms and uses," stated Riker in outlining the scope of the award.

"The eligibility rules are similar to other awards in that the nominee does not have to be an ATP member but must be nominated by an ATP member in good standing," Riker explained. "However, the nominee for the Rising Leader must be 35 years or under on December 31 prior to the conference," she added.

Past recipients and a link to the nomination platform can be found on ATP's Wall of Honor. ATP's Award program began in 2001 with the Career Achievement Award. The Career Achievement Award honors individuals who have made sustained and positive contributions to the development, application and innovations in testing and measurement through research, publications, presentations, professional activities, technology, conceptualizations, or theoretical contributions over a career. In 2007 the Award for Professional Contributions and Service to Testing was added. This award honors individuals who have made a positive impact on the industry of testing through professional contributions and service. Applied and professional contributions may include sustained leadership in the testing industry and professional contributions through presentations and service that have improved testing. They may also include contributions that have improved the applications of testing, influenced professional standards and practices, and increased public understanding of testing, advocacy or other relevant contributions to the industry and profession.

The Rising Leader Award will recognize and honor a young professional (35 year old or under as of December 31st prior to the Innovations conference at which the award will be given), per the criteria outlined above by Amy Riker.

All awards require a letter of nomination from a lead nominator and will also accept up to two additional letters which are optional. Riker emphasized, "this is a nomination process, not an election process, so letters should be unique and not just a repeat of the lead nominator's letter." The nominees are evaluated by the ATP Practice Area Division Chairs, with final nominees being forwarded to the ATP Board of Directors for a vote.  All award winners receive a complimentary conference registration for the year in which they are selected to receive the award.

Nominations are open until December 31, 2022
