Registration is open for the Roundtable "The overarching goal of Committee on Technology-Based Assessment (TBA Committee) is to promote the effective and responsible use of technology in all facets of the assessment lifecycle, including test design, development, delivery, data management, scoring, reporting and use. And the concerns of the TBA Committee are common to a wide range of applications, including Education, Certification and Licensure, Industrial-Organizational, and Clinical," remarked TBA Committee Chair John Weiner, Chief Science Officer of Lifelong Learner Holdings, in announcing the launch of a new TBA Blog on the ATP website as well as a Virtual Roundtable event. "Both these activities will serve as a catalyst for discussion focusing on the implementation and usage of the Guidelines for Technology-Based Assessment." The Guidelines, published in November 2022, are the result of a joint initiative of ATP and the International Test Commission (ITC). The ATP Committee on TBA was established to promote awareness, adoption and use of the Guidelines; to explore opportunities to develop derivative products (e.g., eLearning, supplemental documents); to provide a forum for ATP members to discuss issues and best practices in the application of TBA; and to liaise with other organizations that may adopt, endorse, or promote the Guidelines. "The new TBA blog series, which can be viewed by the public and commented on by ATP members, is another important step in encouraging discourse about the Guidelines," said Weiner, noting that authors of the Guidelines' chapters have committed to writing nine blogs to be posted on ATP & ITC websites and publicized via social media. . Three blog articles have been posted to ATP’s website covering guideline sections on data privacy, translation, and use of testing time in scoring. The other important event, noted Weiner, is a Virtual Roundtable is scheduled for July 26, 11:00 am ET: Challenges in digital assessment – Case studies for the Technology-Based Assessment (TBA) Guidelines which will explore two examples of how the Guidelines are being put into practice (1) Supporting migration to digital assessment and (2) Guiding secure online testing in the era of Chat GPT.
