ATP's Journal of Applied Testing Technology (JATT) Publishes Special Issue on Remote Proctoring

The famous writer Mark Twain once said, "supposing is good, but finding out is better." And nothing could be truer about The Journal of Applied Testing Technology's most recent special edition focusing on remote proctoring.

 

According to the introductory abstract for the special edition Online Remote Proctored Delivery of High Stakes Tests: Issues and Research, edited by John Weiner, Chief Science Officer, PSI Services LLC and Dianne Henderson, Vice President, Research, ACT, and published by JATT in March, "Online administration of high stakes tests has been an increasing trend since the turn of the millennium, as assessment design and delivery have been undergoing a digital transformation. In 2020, the pandemic heightened the need for safe and socially distanced practices in education, work, and life activities. As a result, online Live Remote Proctored (LRP) testing rapidly became a necessary practice to enable credentialing to continue for professionals in essential occupations, and has continued as testing organizations adopt mixed modes of delivery for assessments in all markets. ATP Continues to Move Towards In-person and Hybrid Conferences

"With one successful in-person/hybrid conference to our credit, ATP continues to move forward in providing education and networking experiences both in-person and in hybrid formats. Our Innovations conference in March exceeded our expectations with nearly 800 in-person attendees and 400+ virtual attendees. We will use a similar format for E-ATP in October," remarked ATP CEO Dr. William G. Harris.

 

Also notable for going forward in-person is the MEA-ATP Conference scheduled for May 12 - 14 in Amman, Jordan. This year's conference theme is Finding New Pathways for Education and Workplace Success and is scheduled to be held at the Rotana Hotel, an iconic hotel located in the city center.

ATP Update on U.S. Privacy Laws and Regulation of AI

At ATP's recent Board meeting on March 24, ATP General Counsel Alan Thiemann gave an overview of developing privacy laws and artificial intelligence (AI) regulations that have the power to impact ATP Members worldwide.

New Guidelines for Technology-Based Assessment Open for Public Commentary Until May 15.

 

The Association of Test Publishers and the International Test Commission have collaborated to develop Guidelines for Technology-Based Assessment to promote best practices and ensure fair and valid assessment in a digital environment. These Guidelines are now in draft form and are available for public comment through May 15, 2022.  

 

New Leaders Elected to ATP Board of Directors

 

The ATP Board of Directors will be lead this year by 2022 Chair Alina von Davier, Ph.D., Chief of Assessment at Duolingo and Founder & CEO of EdAstra Tech LLC. Three new members elected to the ATP Board for 2022  include Susan Davis-Becker, Rory McCorkle and Liberty Munson.

During the pandemic ATP launched three new learning initiatives that will be continuing on into 2022 and beyond. The first were a set of Summits: The ATP Global Security Summit and the EdTech & Computational Psychometrics Summit (ECPS), and the third was the New World of Testing (NWT) webinar series.
